Bootleggers-Aurora, MO

So...there's this great little place in Aurora, MO called Bootleggers.  It's just off the square in an old bank building and they have fabulous food!  Aurora is about a 20 minute drive from Springfield, MO and Bootleggers is definitely worth the drive.  The building still has the look and feel of an old bank.  They have a microbrewery housed in the old bank vault.  I had their bacon wrapped filet mignon with sweet potato fries and clam chowder.  Completely delicious!  The filet was fork tender and melted in my mouth.  I haven't had a better steak anywhere in southwest Missouri.  Bob had the horseradish encrusted salmon with steamed veggies and tomato soup.  Again, completely delicious and a very generous portion.  The tomato soup was homemade.  Bootleggers has several desserts to offer also.  We didn't try one, but they looked delicous!  We have gotten sandwiches in the past and have always been more than happy with the quality of the food, the service, and the 1880's atmosphere.  While you are in Aurora check out Aurora Music.  They sell custom made guitars and offer lots of musical instruments and accessories.  It's worth a stop in Marionville to drive by the Baptist Home and see the white squirrels.  Great road trip, fabulous food...priceless.
